As time progresses, mechanical and cosmetic improvements are incorporated into our current designs and become standard. Most changes will be minor, but some cosmetic designs are very noticeable.
At times we
have original shifters that have been restored. As NOS parts
are extremely expensive to find, they will have Gunslingers reproduction parts installed. There are 4 basic styles of
shifters with 2 different bases. Slide in and bolt in. It is
best to visit us at a show to see their actual condition as
chrome plating is a complicated process and the end results
vary. To chrome plate a shifter, you must strip the chrome
and nickel by a reverse plating process. After the chrome
and nickel are removed, you must use various processes to
remove the scratches, nicks, gouges, pits and any surface
blemish. Sometimes you may need to weld or braze. During
this process some metal is removed. If the material to be
removed is near the logo, the logo may become distorted or
faint. Some marks cannot be removed, or new holes and other
marks may appear due to the porosity of the metal. The rule
of thumb is that if you can see it before plating, you will
see it after plating. We cannot plate your shifter, but we
can allow a for core trade in on the purchase of a new
shifter. The trade in will depend on the condition or your
original shifter. Please call for
